Nutritional Consultants Witmer’s has five nutritionists to
help develop an individual plan that meets the needs of each farm. Our
nutritionists use farm visits to sample forages, and formulate special diets
that optimize animal health and production. Each individual has a degree in
Agriculture and many years of experience working with a variety of producers as
well as species. Below is a list of our nutritionists.
Brian Beck, PAS (bbeck@witmersfeed.com)
Brian, the Senior Nutritionist here at Witmer’s, previously
worked for a leading dairy farm in Columbiana County, upon graduating
from high school in 1994 Brian attended ATI. While there,
he received an Associates Degree of Applied Science for Dairy
Science. Post ATI, Brian went on to get a Bachelor’s Degree
in Animal Sciences, with a minor in Agribusiness Management
from Ohio State University. Brian has been with Witmer’s
since graduating from OSU in 1999. He services producers
in Ashtabula, Columbiana, Mahoning, Stark, and Trumbull counties
in Ohio.
Pam Ferrell (pferrell@witmersfeed.com)
Pam grew up raising horses in Belmont County. She then
went on to attend and graduate from Ohio State University in
2002, with her Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture.
Pam’s major course of study was Animal Science, with a minor
in Agribusiness. After school, she came onto Witmer’s
staff and took over as the nutritional consultant for Greene,
Washington, and Westmoreland counties in Pennsylvania, and Mahoning
and Columbiana counties in Ohio. Pam also services Witmer’s
dealer network as Equine Specialist.
Mike Campbell (mcampbell@witmersfeed.com) Mike grew up working on farms with
a variety of species and raising 4-H beef animals. After working
on a dairy farm in Slippery Rock, PA for a number of years,
he went on to study at Penn State University majoring in Animal
Science, taking the Business/Management Option. During
his time at Penn State, he focused on the dairy side of Animal
Science. After receiving his bachelor’s degree in 2003,
Mike was employed as herdsman for a local 120-cow dairy before
joining Witmer’s nutrition staff in 2005. Mike covers
the Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Clarion, Indiana, Jefferson,
and Lawrence Counties in Pennsylvania.George McQuiston (gmcquiston@witmersfeed.com)
George McQuiston graduated from Penn State with a Bachelors Degree in Animal Science. He worked in Lancaster County for two years, then moved locally and worked for a coop for four years. He has been working for Witmer's since the fall of 2005, and serves in Crawford, Erie, Clarion Venango, Mercer and Lawrence counties.
DR. David H. Baver, VMD (dhbaver@witmersfeed.com)
Dr. Baver joined Witmer's Feed and Grain in March, 2008, as the Dairy Nutrition and technical services veterinarian.
Dr. Baver came to Witmer's from Penn State Cooperative extension where he served as dairy extension educator/veterinarian in Northwestern Pennsylvania since 1998.
Dave's Area of special interest and skill is in milk quality and Mastitis control. Prior to his position in extension, Dave was a practicing Dairy Veterinarian in Southeastern Pennsylvania for 23 years.
He received his Veterinary Medical Degree from the University of Pennsylvania and Pre-Veterinary Bachelors Degree from Penn State University.
Dr. Baver assists the sales staff in growing the Witmer's business through training and on-farm trouble shooting. Dr. Baver and his family live in Mercer County, Pennsylvania.
